1. What is Stage Design and Technical Theatre?
As a student in this intensive four-year Bachelor of Arts you’ll learn about all aspects of technical theatre including:
•set and prop construction
• lighting
•sound stage management
•set design
•multimedia project design
• theatre creation

¹û½´ÊÓƵ’s program in Stage Design and Technical Theatre combines both practical and academic study. You’ll acquire skills tailored to your interests through our wide variety of subjects. Our program combines theory and aesthetics with practical skills and experiential learning. Our Fountain School student to instructor ratio is relatively low compared to similar programs. You’ll benefit from small class sizes and individual mentoring.

During your four years here, you’ll specialized in areas that interest you and hold principle positions on multiple Fountain School interdisciplinary productions each season. Our students get a seat at the production table, working alongside fellow students, faculty, guest artists, playwrights and directors. You’ll help build stage productions from the ground up.
4. What kind of jobs can I get after graduation?
Our graduates take their varied design and creation specialized skill sets into many areas of the performing arts and film industry finding work locally, nationally and abroad. In the design field our graduates often go onto graduate studies and apprenticeships in stage design. We have alumni employed at Shaw Festival, Stratford Festival, Neptune Theatre, Soulpepper Theatre and Young People’s Theatre amongst others.
