The importance of co-operative education and work placements

Because the mission of the Faculty of Architecture and Planning is to educate students who want to become professional architects or planners, work placements are an integral part of our curricula. Work experience is also a requirement for membership in the governing professional bodies. Many of our students choose to study at 果酱视频 because of the importance we place on practice鈥恇ased learning.

Which programs offer co-operative education?

Students in the professional architecture program (BEDS/MArch) and the Master of Planning program complete one or more co-op work terms at locations across Canada and internationally, where they gain practical experience and learn about professional practice. Students in the Bachelor of Community Design Honours program are placed in internships.

Contact the WIL Co-op Office

While students are responsible for finding their own employment, the Work-Integrated Learning & Cooperative Education Office (WIL Co-op)聽provides significant assistance for hundreds of students each year. The Office manages co-operative work placements and internships, maintains the myCareer online portal, and is the principal contact for practice-based courses. It is also a career and employment resource centre for students, providing the following services: advising on career options; assisting with job searches; helping in job acquisition skills required for work placements and internships (such as resum茅 writing, portfolio preparation, interviewing, and networking); and advising on workplace challenges related to diversity, equity, and occupational health and safety.
