Health

Since its inception, the MacEachen Institute has been bringing leaders in healthcare from the public, private, academic and non-profit sectors to facilitate discussions about the top health policy issues of the day. Through its Policy Matters series and other initiatives, the Institute has hosted some of the top minds in the industry to share their perspectives and ideas for how to shape public policy in the health sector.

COVID-19 Research

In the early days of the COVID-19 pandemic, the MacEachen Institute began to document and investigate different aspects of the pandemic and its effects on areas of public life. Since 2020, this has resulted in a significant body of work regarding the impact of COVID-19 in various sectors and its implications on policy development.

Of his many significant contributions to Canadian public life, one of Allan J. MacEachen's most prominent accomplishments was the passage of the Medical Care Act in 1966. This political victory聽ensured that every Canadian could receive state-funded medical care, creating one of the cornerstones of Canadian identity.

The MacEachen Institute aims to build on this legacy by supporting the development of progressive public health policy through debate, discussion, and research.
