90% of our students take part in experiential and work-integrated learning each year, applying classroom learnings within their chosen field. Most students will take part in experiential learning programs in their second or third year of study.听

Types of experiential and work-integrated learning

Experiential learning
Experiential learning translates classroom learning into hands-on experiences. Experiential learning is built into most Dal courses and programs and can include 鈥 but are not limited to 鈥 service or volunteer work, field courses, studying abroad, research, and work placements.听
Work-integrated learning
Work-integrated learning is a type of experiential education that formally integrates experiences in a workplace or practice setting into a course or program. Work-integrated learning opportunities can include:

Where classroom learning meets hands-on opportunity
Students who complete a co-operative education program graduate with a full year of work experience on their resume.
